Cocaine bust: Police want to speak to Spanish-sounding man

Police are seeking a man in relation to the country's biggest ever cocaine bust. He was seen on CCTV footage leaving a central Auckland hotel near Albert Street, around 4pm on Friday and is believed to speak with a Spanish-sounding accent. The 35kg of cocaine, packed in bricks, was found hidden inside a diamante-encrusted statue of a horse's head in May. The man may or may not know anything about the $14 million haul, police said, but they wanted to speak to him to see if he was able to provide any further information. "If you are the man in the footage or you know him, please get in touch," said Detective Colin Parmenter, the investigation head at Organised Crime Auckland.
