The chief minister shared this story to show how road infrastructure in Sarawak had improved since the 1960s, with major towns now connected and more coastal areas accessible by road. On his motorcycle trip, he said, the road from Sadong Jaya to Simunjan undulated like the waves of the sea. “Research on this is being undertaken by Curtin University and if the findings are positive, we can use the technology on our coastal roads,” he said. So far the Batang Sadong bridge is already completed and Batang Samarahan bridge nearing completion. Preliminary works are underway for the Batang Lupar bridge while the Batang Rambungan and Batang Igan bridge projects are expected to start this year.
