VANCOUVER—Construction on an LNG pipeline has been halted after the discovery of possible historical artifacts on the territory of the Wet’suwet’en nation near Houston, B.C. Members of the Wet’suwet’en nation say that two stone tools, possibly used in war, have been found on a Coastal GasLink work site. ( Michael Toledano )The tools were found at the site of a proposed work camp for Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline workers south of Houston, B.C. Last month, 14 people blockading the entrance to traditional Wet’suwet’en territory were arrested for breaching a court-ordered injunction allowing Coastal GasLink to complete work in the area. Spice said that the site should be protected until the ground thaws and archeological work can begin.
