Taiwanese actor and comedian Chu Ke-liang started his career on one of Taiwan's most popular talk shows in the early 1970s. He stood out with his off-color jokes and by 1980 was already one of Taiwan show business's most pre-eminent figures. After a decadelong recess resulting from a gambling addiction, Chu returned to the entertainment industry in 2009 and turned over a new leaf in the movie industry. His first hit on the silver screen was "Night Market Hero" in 2010, which made NT$10 million at the box office. In the following years, he released at least one movie every Lunar New Year: the David Loman series, "Twa-Tiu-Tiann," "The Wonderful Wedding" and "Hanky Panky."
