KUALA LUMPUR: A coalition of NGOs has submitted a memorandum to the Myanmar embassy calling for its government to cease the persecution of the Rohingya people. The rallygoers, comprising of activists and Rohingya, gathered outside the Myanmar embassy here at Taman U-Thant on Friday. The group, led by Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, handed over the memorandum to a representative from the embassy. There was a noticeable police presence at the rally with personnel in anti-riot gear on standby. Earlier on Friday, Barisan Nasional youth leaders submitted a memorandum to the United Nations at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters demanding that the intergovernmental organisation end the crisis in Myanmar.
