Contractors have been called to clean up a three kilometre-long coal spill on SH1 near Milton. A Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency spokeswoman said it was advised of the spill from a truck about 12.30pm. The spill affected both lanes of the highway, from Milton to Milburn. It was mostly cleaned up by 2pm, the spokeswoman said. oscar.francis@odt.co.nz
