Bay City athletic director Lupe Florez (who was in town on Sunday night) and other assistant football coaches including Janak, Jerrod McCollister, James Werner, Andrew McFaddin and Brent Bennett all answered the call for help. He and the other coaches made their way back to town to help drive buses filled with evacuees to a shelter in Rosenberg on Monday. I grew up in town that was smaller than Bay City and there’s a sense of small town pride so it was a no-brainer. If there’s something that we need to do to help our community out, then it’s an automatic yes for me.”The coaches made their way back to Bay City, battling the weather conditions from the storm on Sunday night. I didn’t know what would happen after we got back to Bay City.”The drive back to Bay City was nerve-wracking.
