Southland Sharks coach Rob Beveridge is recovering from significant injuries suffered after a serious accident. Beveridge fell 6m from the second storey roof of his family home in Wollongong, Australia, breaking his shoulder blade and six ribs. A plan for his return to Invercargill, to rejoin the Sharks, is being worked through. Both assistant coach Leyton Haddleton and veteran player Andrew Wheeler have stepped in to fill the void left by Beveridge over the past three weeks. The Australian, who filled in as head coach for the Boomers earlier this year, remained involved remotely.
