The Co-op has confirmed a “wrong tweet” went out yesterday, and it’s not made a decision to pull advertising from The Spectator magazine. Yesterday a Co-op reply to an aggrieved tweet about the “hostile” nature of The Spectators transgender coverage, suggested the company were pulling advertising from the right-leaning magazine. - The number of people killed by the coronavirus in the UK stands at 32,313, according to official figures on Tuesday, the second highest death toll in the world. However, attention then turned to the Spectator’s “hostile” anti-transgender editorial, which the Co-op also said they would look into. “I was encouraged that, when brought to their attention, the Co-op followed their own ‘Responsible Advertising’ Policy and made a business decision to no longer advertise with the Spectator.
