Shares traded at $15.40, up about 2.5%, as of 12:30 pm ET, giving the company a market capitalization of $3.9 billion. When Michael Dell’s Dell Technologies in turn gobbled up EMC, Mee and Pivotal got a new de facto boss. Dell owns about 70% of Pivotal, but due to its stock structure, controls about 96% of its shareholder voting rights. And a significant part of Pivotal’s business is sold in conjunction with DellEMC and VMware, accounting for 37% of its revenue. Pivotal’s cloud offering lives more in the world of development and operations, acting as a building block for those types of apps.
