Clonkeen College pitches dispute to resume after Easter

A High Court action over plans by the Christian Brothers to sell part of a south Dublin secondary school’s playing grounds to builders for €18 million will resume after the Easter Holidays. The congregation opposes the action, and denies the board member’s claims the proposed sale to a developer will adversely affect the Deansgrange-based 520 pupil school. The licence was granted by the trustees to the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, which owns Clonkeen College. The Judge dismissed the plaintiff’s application to amend the title of the proceeding from the named individual board members and replace it with the ‘Board of Management of Clonkeen College’. They also seek an order restraining the disposal of the playing fields and that the 2006 agreement be specifically performed.
