Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said half of GOP rival Donald Trump's supporters fell into what she termed a "basket of deplorables," while the remainder were people who feel the government has let them down and want change at all costs. "To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables," Clinton said Friday night at a fundraiser focused on the LGBT community at the Cipriani Wall Street restaurant in New York. The former first lady said the other half were people who felt left behind by the government and the economy. "What's truly deplorable isn't just that Hillary Clinton made an inexcusable mistake in front of wealthy donors and reporters who happened to be around to catch it," Trump's communications adviser, Jason Miller, said in a statement. "It's that Clinton revealed just how little she thinks of the hard-working men and women of America," he added.
