From searing heatwaves and drought, to devastating storms and floods, 2019 has been another record-breaking year for extreme weather linked to man-made climate change. July was the hottest month ever on record for the planet. July 25 was the UK’s hottest day on record with a sweltering 38.7C. The same day the mercury rose to record levels in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, while in June France notched a new high of 46C. The record floods in Yorkshire last week mirror deluges that have inundated other parts of the world.
