UPDATEDFor years now, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has pushed Cleveland Indians owner Paul Dolan to remove the racially insensitive Chief Wahoo logo from the team’s uniforms. Over the past year, we encouraged dialogue with the Indians organization about the Club’s use of the Chief Wahoo logo. But this isn’t the end of Chief Wahoo. Chief Wahoo-related products are being retained to ensure that other entities do not claim ownership or make use of the Chief Wahoo logo. Ultimately, whether or not Manfred wants to rid himself of Chief Wahoo, the well-guarded copyrights mean the insensitive logo will be around for some time.
