It’ll also help soften the blow of the Cavaliers losing Alfonzo McKinnie, arguably the team’s best perimeter defender last season. The reason the Cavaliers lost McKinnie is that he was traded, along with Jordan Bell, to the Los Angeles Lakers for JaVale McGee and a 2026 second-round selection. The Lakers lost Avery Bradley, Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard, all key contributors, in free agency this offseason. So acquiring a player to address depth concerns via trade was one of the few avenues available for Cleveland.
