Several religious leaders from Mombasa have lauded the government's intention to withdraw Kenyan soldiers from Somali. The al-Shabaab militia group has carried out several attacks on the Kenyan soldiers with the recent one being the El Adde attack in January, that left several soldiers dead. Kalu however challenged the government to ensure the soldiers operate within the Kenyan boarders, to ensure that the country is safe from attacks by the al-Shabaab militia group. Speaking during a meeting with UN envoys on Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta threatened to recall the Kenyan soldiers if the international community fails to provide the necessary support in fighting the terrorists. Speaking after presiding over the Sunday service at the Anglican Church of Kenya, Bishop Julius Kalu called upon the government to hasten the withdrawal of the soldiers, saying a majority of them had lost their lives fighting in a foreign country.
