A little squeeze of toothpaste could help to change the world, if the toothpaste in question has been manufactured with the help of a Scottish company which specialises in making products from pollution. Made from waste carbon dioxide, this toothpaste is one of an extraordinary range of carbon-negative products made possible by technology created by Carbon Capture Machine (CCM). The company, spun out of Aberdeen University by three academics, is at the forefront of a green industrial revolution. Already, their genius has secured a $500,000 prize and a place as the only European finalists in a US competition, which, at the end of a five-year development programme, will reward the two companies devising the most profitable uses for the waste gas that causes global warming.
