A fresh class action lawsuit against Uber is set to determine the state of play for the ride-hailing tech giant in South Africa, but also serves as yet another chapter in Uber and other companies' evolution through the pitfalls of the gig economy. Since its emergence, Uber has made a lot of hay about the fact it is commanding a large private transport network without owning a vehicle on the roads or hiring a single driver. However, disaffected drivers believe there is more to this catchy pitch when than the company lets on.
