TAWAU: The Civil Defence Force (APM) will be deploying baywatch teams at resort and recreation areas in Semporna to respond in emergency cases. Its chief commissioner Major General (Rtd) Datuk Azmy Yahya said the move was necessary as Semporna is a major tourist destination due to its resort islands and diving spots. "There are three tourist destinations that already have baywatch teams in Sabah, namely two in Kota Kinabalu and one in Lahad Datu," he said after the closing ceremony of the South-East zone APM cadet coordinator teachers and officers course here Friday. He said the initiative was made possible through cooperation with the Tourism and Culture Ministry under the National Blue Ocean Strategy.
