more-inThe building that collapsed in Ashok Vihar on Wednesday was inspected by the Maintenance Department of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation around 20 days ago and nothing was found wrong, a municipal spokesperson said on Wednesday. The corporation also refuted reports that a complaint had been filed by the owner of a shop on the ground floor of the building. Complainant Sanjeev Gupta, however, stood by his claim and said that he even received an online registration number after lodging the complaint. A civic body report revealed that as of September 21 none of the 1,17,541 houses surveyed in the Keshav Puram zone were found to be dangerous. North Corporation Mayor Adesh Gupta said the matter will be probed and strict action taken against erring officials.
