The Toronto sign has been dimmed in order to honour the victims of an attack outside Kabul airport on Thursday. Two suicide bombers and gunmen attacked crowds of people trying to get to Kabul’s airport. The attacks killed Afghans and U.S. troops, some media outlets reporting the number could be as high as 169 dead. According to the city’s chief communications officer Brad Ross, the sign can be “dimmed to mark local, national or international events in recognition of tragedies and loss of life.”Mayor John Tory also confirmed the news on Twitter with a photo of the dimmed sign. “We are working with our local refugee resettlement organizations to support those fleeing Afghanistan and will have more to say about how we as a city can help in this effort in the coming days.”Read more about:
