The City of Toronto has applied for an injunction to stop a local carpenter from erecting small, wooden shelters on city-owned land meant to shelter the homeless through the winter. The carpenter named in the application, Khaleel Seivwright, has attracted attention during the pandemic for building small, wooden shelters for people living outside. Encampments have increasingly sprung up across Toronto during the pandemic, with hundreds still believed to be living outside.
