Police on bikes, horses and in unmarked cruisers surrounded Lamport Stadium early Wednesday as city workers prepared to evict a homeless encampment at the stadium. One man in the camp started to yell at the approaching officers, and was pulled back by a woman. For more than two hours, the scene was relatively quiet as workers erected orange metal fences similar to those used on Tuesday in the clearing at Alexandra Park around the Lamport camp. The Encampment Support Network put out a call for supporters to show up at Lamport Stadium. A longtime freelance photojournalist working for The Canadian Press was arrested while reporting on the encampment clearing.
