Cities: More, Not Less, Immigration

While Trump and supporters maintain the action was made to ensure greater American security, many intelligence officials suggest that it could indeed make us less safe. If a strong, growing and innovative economy is our goal, perhaps we should be encouraging more immigration, not less. I also looked at the Bureau of Economic Analysis' per capita gross domestic product for each of the 53 metro areas. Using those two data points, I found an interesting correlation -- the greater your foreign-born population in your metro area, the higher your metro area's per capita GDP. The middle of the chart includes a handful of largely Sun Belt metros (Atlanta, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Denver) with foreign-born percentages between 10%-20%, and a higher per capita GDP.
