Citi, Grab forge regional partnershipFor the first time, Citibank is integrating its credit cards with a transportation application now that one in eight smartphone users in Southeast Asia are in the Grab ride-hailing platform. Now, Citibank and Grab have partnered across five markets in Asia Pacific to allow payment of Grab rides with Citibank credit card points. As part of the initial phase, customers who added their Citi credit card to GrabPay, Grab’s mobile payment platform, received a discounted first ride. In return, Grab customers who signed up for any Citi credit card through the partnership gets free rides worth US$50. Citibank credit cardholders who charge their Citi credit card on GrabPay will receive a SMS from Citi asking if they would like to redeem points for the ride.
