Cineworld confirms it will close 127 cinemas in UK from this Thursday

Shares in Cineworld dropped by 57% as markets opened on Monday after it confirmed the plans. It comes after filmmakers announced the delay of the next 007 film - No Time To Die - until April next year. However, plans to close all theatres could be drawn up as soon as this week, putting 5,500 jobs at risk. Cineworld said its main priorities remain the safety of customers and employees, cash preservation and cost reduction. It said cinemas would reopen "when key markets have more concrete guidance on their reopening status and, in turn, studios are able to bring their pipeline of major releases back to the big screen".
