Christmas decorations worth €2.1m, 36 tonnes of Christmas lighting and nearly one million bottles of Prosecco worth €2.1m were among the items imported to Ireland this time last year. It comes as the Central Statistics ­Office (CSO) revealed a selection of seasonal statistics about the Christmas period in 2024. New data shows that in December last year, Ireland imported €2.1m worth of Christmas items, such as baubles and decorations. The data also showed that Friday was the most popular day for happy ­couples to get married in December 2024. New parents welcomed 82 Christmas babies last year, including 39 girls and 45 boys born on Christmas Day.
