I was complaining about Christmas talks in my church this Sunday and a friend challenged me to write what I’d like to hear spoken from the pulpit about Christ and Christmas. Here’s what I would say:I don’t know if Christ was a real person. That is to say, I don’t know if I believe in the central miracle of Christianity. I don’t know if I believe that Christ was the literal son of God, God incarnate, or that He had the power to raise Himself from the dead. So why am I even bothering with talking about Christmas?
