Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to be frosty and icy with temperatures to dip below zero at times in next week

Sunday will be particularly chilly with temperatures in the evening between -2 to +2 for Munster and south Connacht. Today will be wet and windy at times with spells of rain, occasionally turning heavy. Rain will linger over parts of Ulster, Leinster and east Munster, heavy at times, with scattered showers elsewhere, turning wintry at times. Uncertainty remains, but Tuesday will see further showery spells of rain, with drier periods at times too. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be rather cold and dry with crisp winter sunshine.
