Scores of daring people in fancy dress dived into a chilly lake as part of a wacky Christmas tradition today at Blackroot Pool in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. "And you can see by the crowd we are going to raise more money today." Thousands of people turned out in Porthcawl for the traditional Christmas Day swim today, with the highest number of swimmers yet. December 26 has also become a popular day for sea swims off the island of Ireland and more events are due to take place on both sides of the border on St Stephen's/Boxing Day.
