PARIS — Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair is among 15 players competing for the inaugural women’s Ballon d’Or. Sinclair, from Burnaby, B.C., is among the nominees unveiled on Monday along with Brazil’s Marta, Lyon player Ada Hegerberg of Norway and Germany international Dzsenifer Marozsan. With 173 international goals, Sinclair is second only to retired American Abby Wambach, who scored 184. The Ballon d’Or, which was first awarded in 1956 to Stanley Matthews, is decided by a panel of international journalists.
