Mayor Lianne Dalziel dismissed any suggestion that bores outside the council's responsibility posed any public health risk, saying such a risk "doesn't exist" as they were not linked to the water supply. "I don't think there's a water supply engineer in New Zealand who knows what he's talking about who would say anything else."
