In a statement the board said a formal complaint was made about the “offensive and culturally insensitive comments”. Hei Āhuru Mōwai co-chair Nina Scott said the incident was not unusual as Māori encountered racism frequently in the health system. She said Mark and the consultant who made the presentation had been very respectful and responsive in the wake of the complaint.
