The best thing you can do to help in the wake of the Christchurch terror attacks is just ask, writes Hina Cheema. I have just called a friend and she told me of a woman who lost her husband and was very composed. We have been asked by the ordinary New Zealanders both at the individual and organisational levels; 'What can we do?' At the end I would say, it would have been better if that police official had directly asked women whether their religion allowed them to talk to me. The lady at the airport could have asked the hijabi woman, 'can you speak English?'
