Christchurch quarantine facility evacuated after false alarm

Staff from the Crowne Plaza Hotel wait outside as fire crews respond to the alarm. A Christchurch isolation facility has been evacuated after a fire alarm went off. Emergency services were called to the Crowne Plaza in Colombo St, opposite Victoria Square, shortly before 9am on Monday. The Crowne Plaza is the sixth hotel in the city to become a managed isolation facility. Unlike North Island isolation hotels, which vary in age and start at three stars, all Christchurch’s isolation hotels have at least four-star ratings.
