A woman was critically injured in an assault on Norwich St in Linwood on Thursday morning. A Christchurch man accused of stabbing a woman, leaving her fighting for her life in hospital, has been denied bail. Police allege he attacked the woman at their home in Linwood’s Norwich St just before 5am on Thursday. Lavea appeared via audio-video link in the Christchurch District Court on Friday, where his lawyer applied for him to be released on bail. Judge Tony Couch declined bail, and Lavea was remanded in custody to appear in court again on October 6.
