Two people are injured after an early morning crash on the corner of Edgeware Rd and Barbadoes St.A man was speeding in a stolen car when he went through a red light and crashed into a car in Christchurch. Emergency services were called to the scene of the two-car crash on the corner of Barbadoes St and Edgeware Rd, in the suburb of Edgeware, about 6.15am on Wednesday. Canterbury Metro Commander Superintendent Lane Todd said the man, believed to be in his early 30s, was travelling north on Barbadoes St in a Nissan Tiida when he went through a red light and collided with a car travelling on Edgeware Rd. The man, who was driving a stolen car, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered critical injuries which are not life threatening, Todd said. A Christchurch Transport Operations spokeswoman said about 8am, two-way traffic had been restored on Barbadoes St.Edgeware Rd remained closed between Barbadoes St and Packe St.
