First it was SoMo, then West End, NoMo and South Town were coined, now Salt is the latest moniker for a central Christchurch area. This time it is the Innovation Precinct getting a rebrand, with some help from the taxpayer, to reflect the area's "gritty" character. Salt was also chosen because it relates to the ideas of flavour, preservation, effectiveness (being worth one's salt), and dependability (salt of the earth). He said some signage would go up around Little High and and there would be further marketing. STACY SQUIRES/STUFF The name Salt District is hoped to capture the nature of the area more accurately than Innovation Precinct does.
