In the Time Before Uber, taxi drivers had to undergo 17 days of training. The ability to drive a car safely, with or without passengers, is something a full Ontario driver’s licence and a clean driving record ought to demonstrate. Bishar-Mussa did something stupid and negligent, but it took Estacion’s stupid negligence to get the coroner involved. The person in Bishar-Mussa’s back seat would have been just as dead if he hadn’t been driving for Uber. But let’s not pretend we’re getting anywhere near the meat of the real issue on Ontario’s roads.
