Scheer used his final speech in part to decry the “left-wing media narrative” and recommend conservative alternatives the True North Centre and The Post Millennial. New leader Erin O’Toole struck a friendly, relaxed and self-assured tone in his first press conference that Scheer never even approached. But had he wanted to indulge his own grievances with the mainstream Canadian media, he would have had ample material to work with. What does O’Toole “owe” social conservatives for their support on the second and third ballots? And will he give eastern Ontario MP Derek Sloan, whose goal in life seems to be to discredit Canadian social conservatives, the boot?
