Chris Heisey boosts Nationals’ outfield with return from the disabled list

The Nationals are without their starting shortstop, two-thirds of their Opening Day outfield, and their interim center fielder Michael A. Taylor, who suffered an oblique strain Thursday night and was placed on the disabled list Friday. Chris Heisey replaced Taylor on the roster, the first time he’s been active since being placed on the disabled list in late May with a ruptured right biceps. Brian Goodwin is now the only natural center fielder on the team, though Heisey and Bryce Harper have played 121 games there. Goodwin will start in center field Friday night, and Baker indicated that will likely be the plan until Taylor returns. On occasion, could be Heisey … I told him to work out in center as well,” Baker said.
