Chopper called after Kawhia cut offPart of SH31 was closed overnight after a large slip came down. A rescue helicopter had to fly a sick patient out of the coastal town of Kawhia after it was cutoff by a large slip overnight. The landslip came down blocking all of State Highway 31 between Baird Rd and Raglan Rd around 11pm on Sunday. At the same time St John ambulance paramedics had to call in a rescue helicopter to help a critically ill person, he said. A landing zone was set up at a local marae where the rescue helicopter retrieved the person.
