PETALING JAYA: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) performance committee chairman Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei believes there is nothing to be concerned about the change in the Instagram bio of world No. Wooi Yik recently updated his Instagram bio to “pro badminton player”, sparking speculation over whether he intends to leave BAM. However, Chong Wei feels that the 28-year-old made the change to reflect his status as a professional athlete, rather than signalling any intention to go independent. Every country has a different culture, so when Wooi Yik puts ‘pro badminton player’ in his Instagram bio, many assume he is leaving the national team. He would know better as he works with Wooi Yik and the other players on a daily basis.
