A worker, who sustained burn injuries in a furnace blast at a factory in Chittagong’s Sitakunda upazila, has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The deceased is Shah Alam, 30, son of Abdul Haque, a resident of Ilisha village in Bhola sadar upazila. A furnace of ‘GPH Re-Rolling Mill’ at Choto Kumira went off with a big bang on Tuesday, leaving 11 workers of the factory injured. As the situation of six workers deteriorated, they were shifted to the burn unit of DMCH where doctors declared Shah Alam dead around 6pm, said Dr Partho Sankar, a resident surgeon of burn unit.
