SYDNEY, Australia - The Chinese women’s soccer team has won back-to-back games in the Olympic qualifying tournament after spending almost two weeks quarantined in an Australian hotel because of concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. China scored five first-half goals in a 5-0 win over Taiwan on Monday to follow up on a 6-1 win over Thailand last Friday in the Asian zonal qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics. China will next face Australia on Thursday in a game likely to decide top spot in Group B. Jia Xiuquan, head coach of China’s women’s team, was impressed with the wins. Four Chinese players stayed at home, including 2018 Asian Football Confederation player of the year, Wang Shuang.
