A total of 300,000 doses of Sinopharm anti-COVID vaccine are expected to be given to Sri Lanka by the Chinese Government this week, stated State Minister Channa Jayasumana. The import will be done after the approval of the NMRA was given, the Minister further said. At the request of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, China has promised to send 300,000 doses of vaccines this week, the Minister of State said. “Arrangements are being made to import the relevant consignment of vaccines to Sri Lanka before the 12th of February, which is considered to be the dawn of the Chinese New Year. Discussions are also being held today to ascertain the date of arrival,” he stated.
