KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Day was celebrated in a special and significant way by the Chinese community who came together to show their patriotism and love for the country. Among those present were MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Liberal Democratic Party president Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Sarawak United Peoples’ Party president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian. Urging the Chinese community not to fall for the Opposition’s propaganda, the government is committed to bringing more progress and prosperity for everyone to enjoy. The Barisan government, the government which I lead as your ‘shou xiang’ (Mandarin for Prime Minister), will continue with our moderate and progressive policies,” he said. Also at the event were Federation of Malaysia Chinese Associations president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah, former MCA deputy president Tun Michael Chen, Jiao Zong or United Chinese School Teachers’ Asso-ciation of Malaysia representatives and representatives of various prominent Chinese NGOs.
