Chinese firm to set up $1 bln solar panel factory in northern Vietnam


JA Solar Holdings Co., China’s leading manufacturer of solar power products, has signed a contract to set up a plant worth more than US$1 billion in the northern province of Bac Giang. JA Solar, a listed company with revenues of US$2.15 billion last year, has eight factories producing solar power products in Europe, the US and Japan. The factory will also be one of the biggest investments in the industrial zone and provide more than 3,000 jobs. The Shanghai-based company will lease 88 hectares of land at Quang Chau industrial zone for the factory. The Bac Giang factory will be its biggest overseas, according to company officials.
