Chinese consumer prices tick higher in July


China's consumer price index, a main gauge of inflation, climbed by 2.7 percent from the year before in July, the National Bureau of Statistics said today. The rate picked up from the 2.5-percent growth in June. in June, prices increased by 0.1 percentage point compared with May due to increasing prices of pork and vegetables. Pork prices increased by 3.6 percent, rebounding from a decline of 8.1 percent in May.
