A taxi driver in southwest China has been placed in detention for 10 days and sacked for sexually harassing a female passenger, a news website reported. The case comes amid concerns about women passengers’ safety in cabs in China after an airline stewardess was murdered by a driver working for the ride-hailing app Didi Chuxing. The cab company, Leshan Foyun Taxi, apologised, saying it had dismissed the driver and would continue to investigate the incident, which had “exposed a management problem”. The case comes after a woman was killed by a Didi Chuxing driver in Zhengzhou in Henan province earlier this month. Didi overhauls car-pooling service to strengthen safety, following passenger deathInternet users were shocked by the incident in Leshan.
